Hello, your untact tour guide, Mr.Been. I`ll show you all the corners of the historic and unique sights around the world. At first, I`ll let you go to Changdeokgung palace, the world Unesco heritage in seoul. You can see many beautiful Korean traditional buildings in the palace. So, You don`t have to miss here, when you have a plan to visit Seoul. Just follow me!

The brook flowing through the deep valley north to the Secret Garden of Changdeokgung is called Ongnyucheon. In 1636, during the reign of King Injo, the 16th king of the Joseon Dynasty, a U-shaped groove was carved on a large flat rock known as Soyoam and filled with water. Sometimes the king and his officials set af loat their wine cups on the water while they wrote poetry. Five pavilions, Soyojeong, Taegeukjeong, Cheonguijeong, Nongsanjeong and Chwihanjeong, are located around Soyoam. Among these five pavilions, Cheonguijeong in particular draws attention because it is the only thatch-roofed pavilion found in the palace today.

U-shaped groove was carved on the rock & filled with water to pass cups on the water.

Poetry composition and floating wine cups In A.D. 353, forty one notable Chinese scholars including Wang Xizhi, the esteemed calligrapher, gathered at a pavilion in Shaoxing. They held parties there during which they composed poetry while sending wine cups afloat on the waters. When a wine cup was sent to a specific person, the recipient had to drink the wine from the cup then compose an impromptu poem and recite it. If the person could not recite a poem, he had to drink three cups of wine as punishment. This type of party soon became widely popular among members of high society.

The kings took a rest sitting on Soyojeong pavilion and looking down Soyoam water fall.

Passing Soyojeong pavilion, Cheonguijeong and Taegeukjeong pavilions stand side by side.

Below Cheonguijeong, the only thatch-roofed pavilion was king`s rice paddy for practice.

The thatched roof is very unique. It looks the most eco-friendly pavilion I have ever seen.

Nongsanjeong was the only pavilion with heating floor and small kitchen for king`s stay.

On the way to leave rear garden, various trees and bushes makes me feel refreshed.

I saw the gate which connects Gwulwaegaksa, government offices to the rear garden to go faster to the garden.

The 750-year-old juniper tree on the way out was designated as a natural monument.

Out along the path the small flowerbeds next to Gwulwaegaksa, government offices.

How about today`s attraction? Isn`t it different from the other architecures you have known ever? I hope So!

See you soon! Have a happy day~
