We will look around daejojeon hall today. Daejojeon was King’s and Queen’s bed chamber in Changdeokgung palace. I’m sure you like the orientic and mysterious landscapes. Also, it has ondol, the Korean traditional heating system to warm in winter.

The residence of the queen, Daejojeon was originally surrounded by many secondary buildings, including Heungbokheon, which was witness to a tragic moment in history. It was the place where the last cabinet meeting of the dynasty was held to deliberate over Japan’s annexation of Joseon. Destroyed by fire in 1917, it was rebuilt with materials taken from Gyeongbokgung. Secondary buildings on either side of Daejojeon, and Gyeonghungak behind it, are connected by long colonnaded corridors. These corridors are perhaps the only sections to show the original, complex structure of the palace. The last king’s and queen’s bed chambers are still remaining in this Daejojeon building. Daejojeon is designated as a Treasure No. 816.

There is Seonpyeongmun gate to Daejojeon hall just behind Huijeongdang.
The left building is huijeongdang and the right one is Seonpyeongmun gatso, two buoldings are connected by the corridor in the air.
Unlike traditional gates , w estern style lights are attached above its signboard.
Daejojeon Hall was bedroom for king and queen built high to avoid the eyes of others.
A Hemispherical sundial, 2 western lights, 4 jars of water to prevent a fire in the front.
Inside the hall, the center was a living room, each side was king`s and queen`s bedroom.
The rooms surrounding Daejojeon were the residence for court ladies who served queen .
The interior of the court ladies' rooms is a unique blend of Korean and Western styles.
Exterior of the maids ' rooms is Korean style and the rooms are connected like a maze.
A beautiful small floor and the railing were installed outside the corridor in the air. You can go to the small gate into the rear garden.

Do you have fun to look around the new place? The Korean traditional buildings are beautiful and unique. Next time I`ll show you the beautiful rear terrace and royal kitchin of changdeokgung. Good day!^^
